LivingTrustArizona.com is a website of Four Peaks Planning, Inc., a Phoenix-based estate planning firm specializing in revocable living trusts. Specifically, we aim to help families under the federal estate tax limit ($3.5M for single people, $7M for married couples in 2009) prepare documents to ensure families aren't consumed with problems that arise without documents and a plan in place.

Four Peaks Planning, Inc. started in 2003 when owner, Jamie Kahn, used his experiences with one of Arizona's larger estate planning firms to improve the estate planning process for the typical Arizona family.

The formula to improve the process has three parts:

Access to information before meeting an estate planner. We like our clients to feeling prepared with questions when meeting an estate planner. We use this website to make it possible, presenting topics in a simple manner relevant to many Arizona families.
Affordable attorney access and estate planning documents. Without advertising aside from this website which ranks highly organically, our expenses are low. Rather than inflate our prices to average attorney-perpared estate plans, we help you keep your estate a little bigger.
To maintain the quality of our plans, the primary area practiced by our attorneys is estate planning.
To help clients find time to plan we offer both in-home consultations and office appointments.
Trust asset transfer follow-up. Clients must put existing and new assets into the trust after their documents are signed. Our documents transfer current Arizona real estate and personal items in a home, but titled assets such as bank accounts and vehicles require clients to visit banks, etc. We cannot legally do this for you but we provide trust funding instructions. We follow up on our clients via phone and email to encourage they keep their trust up to date and see if questions exist.

Mr. Kahn was born in Fort Wayne, IN and grew up in Wisconsin. He is the son of a family law attorney/mediator and a college teacher. Mr. Kahn earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The degree's math and logic translates well to estate planning with its focus on contingencies and probabilities. Shortly after moving to Arizona he joined the estate planning firm National Future Benefits, Inc. in Scottsdale. After several years he began his own firm in 2003.

In his free time, Mr. Kahn is a volunteer youth soccer coach with Young Champions of America and previously coached youth basketball at the YMCA. In 2005, he started a volunteer small business marketing and brainstorming group, AzEPS, to help new businesses succeed in the Phoenix area.

Four Peaks Planning, Inc.'s primary attorney is Thomas Leavell, JD, of Leavell & Riviera, PLC.

Mr. Leavell earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from the University of Florida, where he was a Florida Undergraduate Scholar. After working for the Palm Beach County Defenders Office as a felony criminal investigator for two years, he graduated from Arizona State University School of Law, and was admitted to practice in Arizona state courts that same year after passing the bar. In Dec. 2001, Leavell was admitted to the United States District Court (9th Circuit).

Throughout his career, he has worked as a law clerk/paralegal and attorney for Hyndman & Navazo, PLC, and Leavell practiced as a civil litigator and criminal defense lawyer. Subsequently, Mr. Leavell practiced in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning and civil litigation for Matheny & Associates, P.C., before establishing his practice, Leavell & Associates, P.L.C., in Mesa and Scottsdale, Arizona. Leavell & Associates, P.L.C., focuses on estate planning, business and litigation services. He is a member of the Probate and Trust Section of the Arizona State Bar.

Born in Viborg, Denmark, as a son of a United States Navy Commander, Thomas Leavell has lived in Louisiana, Florida and currently resides in Arizona.

Jamie is a very bright and exciting person to work with even though his line of work may be a bit opposite.
